Introduction As with many other areas of
law, Ohio law has unique provisions for agricultural equipment
and roadway use. The laws pertaining to allowable width,
height and length contain an exemption for farm machinery, and
there are different load limits for farm trucks and machinery.
Animal-drawn and slow moving equipment must display particular
signage and lighting, and the law now has provisions requiring
Speed Identification Symbols on certain equipment.
Agricultural operators must also be aware of laws concerning the
use and maintenance of highway rights of way and depositing mud
or manure on highways. This page contains a compilation of
the relevant sections in the Ohio Revised Code, along with
important court cases and our fact sheets that help explain
these laws.
